Are you struggling to achieve your dream body shape despite diet and exercise? You’re not alone. Many individuals face the challenge of stubborn fat deposits that seem impervious to traditional weight loss methods. Luckily, advancements in body sculpting techniques have revolutionized the way we approach fat removal and contouring.
Transforming your body into your ideal shape is a universal aspiration. Innovative body sculpting techniques eliminate stubborn fat deposits that resist traditional methods like diet and exercise. Among these techniques, liposuction and injection lipolysis are leading procedures designed to target localized fat pockets, providing precise contouring and sculpting.
Liposuction
Liposuction, the most common cosmetic surgery procedure, involves the surgical removal of subcutaneous fat. However, it comes with inherent risks associated with surgery and general anesthesia and considerable costs. At Eterna MD, we offer an alternative approach to liposuction: liposculpture performed without general anesthesia. This is made possible through the utilization of Tumescent fluid infiltration in the localized treatment areas, ensuring a safer and more comfortable experience for our patients.
Non-Surgical Options
Several options are available for those seeking nonsurgical alternatives to liposuction. Cryolipolysis, commonly known as cool sculpting, utilizes controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells, while radiofrequency ablation utilizes heat to achieve similar results. HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) offers another non-invasive method, using focused ultrasound energy to break down fat cells. Additionally, injection lipolysis, also known as Lipodissolve, involves injecting medications to dissolve fat deposits gradually.
With these advanced techniques, achieving your desired body shape is more accessible than ever. Whether you opt for traditional liposuction or explore nonsurgical alternatives, Eterna MD is committed to helping you reach your aesthetic goals safely and effectively. Our procedures have been proven to be highly effective, giving you the confidence that you’re making the right choice for your body.
What Exactly is Lipodissolve?
Is Lipodissolve the answer to nonsurgical fat reduction? Lipodissolve, a nonsurgical fat reduction method, involves injecting lipolytic drugs directly into fat layers, offering an alternative to traditional surgical procedures. This approach has gained popularity in cosmetic medicine, particularly for treating localized fat in areas such as the double chin, jawline, pre and post-axillary rolls, and saddlebags. With the recent approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), including the recognition of DC-based formulations like Kybella, Lipodissolve is increasingly becoming a mainstream option for body contouring. Kybella, manufactured by Allergan USA, Inc., is specifically approved by the USFDA for contouring the submental region.
What Exactly is Injected to Dissolve Fat?
A pharmacy compound comprising Phosphatidylcholine (PC) and Deoxycholate is injected into the subcutaneous tissue (fat layer). PC, derived from soybean lecithin, is a glycerophospholipid and does not typically cause allergic reactions. Biochemically, PC is crucial for membrane lipid function. Although the precise mechanism of PC’s action in lysing subcutaneous fat remains unclear, it’s believed to stimulate lipases, breaking down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol. The liver metabolizes fatty acids, while glycerol is water-soluble. Deoxycholate appears to induce fat cell destruction nonspecifically due to its detergent action. Both PC and DC have been used independently for injection lipolysis, but the compounded preparation exhibits synergistic action, enhancing their effects.
Am I a Candidate For Lipodissolve?
Injection lipolysis is most effective for small volumes of excess fat, typically up to 500mL. It yields promising results when targeting small areas of fat deposits that are easily compressible and have a uniform texture. Areas commonly treated with Lipodissolve include the face, double chin, jowls, pre and post-axillary rolls, saddlebags, love handles, and back rolls. Lipomas and gynecomastia have also positively responded to injection lipolysis (Lipodissolve).
How is the Treatment Administered?
At Eterna MD, our Lipodissolve treatment is offered in packages of three sessions, scheduled six weeks apart. Additional treatments may be necessary depending on the thickness of the fat layer in the targeted area(s).
What to Expect After Your Lipodissolve Treatment
Following injection lipolysis (Lipodissolve), it’s common to experience temporary discomfort such as pain, swelling, redness, and a stinging/burning sensation. These effects typically subside within hours to 2–3 days after the procedure. Some patients may develop nodules, which usually resolve within 3-4 weeks. These nodules result from acute inflammation associated with fat destruction, leading to scarring.
While liposuction remains the gold standard for reducing subcutaneous fat, injection lipolysis offers advantages such as minimal downtime, less invasiveness, and psychological comfort due to its nonsurgical nature. PC–DC treatment has proven effective in reducing localized subcutaneous fat accumulations.
